watching2
Dandadan
watchingWatching for the whiplash between dumb jokes and perfect animation.
Mushishi
watchingOne episode at a time, never two. It stops working if you binge it.
completed8
FLCL
completedSix episodes of static, guitars, and growing up too fast.
Serial Experiments Lain
completedThe Wired, the hum, the distance between people.
Neon Genesis Evangelion
completedComfort show, somehow. Bad mental health as giant robot weather.
Cowboy Bebop
completedEvery episode is a different genre and somehow it still holds together.
Texhnolyze
completedAlmost no dialogue for the first four episodes. It earns every bit of it.
Ping Pong the Animation
completedUgly on purpose and the best-animated thing on this list.
Kaiba
completedSoft round shapes carrying the bleakest premise about memory I have seen.
Haibane Renmei
completedQuiet town, small wings, and a rule system nobody explains.
planned3
Serial Experiments Lain (rewatch)
plannedPlanned because the Wired always finds a way back.
Monster
plannedSeventy-four episodes is not a commitment, it is a lifestyle change.
Boogiepop Phantom
plannedFiled under things to watch when the Lain mood comes back around.
