final fantasy ix

a love letter to the series itself. the theater ship, alexandria, the airships — all the warm, earnest parts of the franchise before everything got self-serious.

vivi exists and that is enough. a game asking what makes life precious, and meaning it, is why this is still my favorite of the games.
